Charles is understandably freaked out - the loss of his father, the new found ability to create fiery explosions, the sudden, insistent, persistent and up-close presence of three "gay" guys, the appearance of poor Aramis almost in extremis, the news about the homicidal almost-wife of Athos, and the incomprehensible discussion of "closed circles." It's a lot, even for those of us who have been following closely for a (wonderfully) long time. The presence of Richelieu at the villa has always been such a sore spot - it is scary to contemplate poor Aramis' condition deteriorating further due to proximity to the cardinal. Yet, it seems like the place that Charles could most likely relax a bit and settle in. You have set up a great conflict. I am on tenterhooks to see what comes next. Wonderful as always, and a privilege to read, Thank you, Rainjoy!
