It *is* significant that everyone who wasn't there focuses on the sex, though Aramis does have a habit of misdirecting everything back to sex, to be fair; but it's a bit worrying how normalised the killing is to Porthos by this point, so it doesn't even occur to him. I guess they have to deal with it however they can, and the constant repetition of 'they weren't human anymore' has its consequences . . .
(In which I am an Athos: alcohol is not the cure to all ails, but it makes them easier to deal with, and it cures *most* of them. *swigs wheat beer*) (Disclaimer: I am full of shit and two bottles of beer as I type this.)
'Sin' is a funny concept - it's sort of like 'virginity', it's like, doing or not doing something doesn't automatically change your entire *state of being* . . . ? I spent all of today writing about thinking through process rather than thinking as abstract noun, and I'm philosophically obsessed with turning nouns into verbs because I got really excited by queer theory, but still, you are: what you are as you do it and your lingering features like memory and character, surely, not a *label*? So, yeah, 'sin' makes less sense to me, though I understand guilt and shame and regret well, yes. Oh my god that got wordy never reply to comments on beer o_0
Have to admit, when I started writing modern!AU one of my early thoughts was, Surely Athos would be on pot nowadays? so Porthos might yet get his way ;) Pot's an odd one too, hard to know how he'd react, hm. We shall see . . .
Good luck with work! My own is still turning my days into exhausting woe but then I have beer and music and a very pretty dusk this evening, so, swings and roundabouts. We may both yet survive it <3 (I don't know what level you're at, funny time of year for working if you're undergrad or below, are you working on something dissertation-y and interesting?) And thank you for finding the time to read, honey! Thank you, very much ^^
